In today's edition: the power of intense interest.

Hey friend! ๐Ÿ‘‹

"Another thing that I have found is that intense interest in any subject is indispensable if you're really going to excel in it. I could force myself to be fairly good in a lot of things, but I couldn't excel in anything in which I don't have an intense interest.

So, to some extent, you're going to have to do as I did. If at all feasible, you want to manoeuvre yourself into doing something in which you have an intense interest."

I've known folks who recognised that they were not in the right line of work - either consulting wasn't for them, or they just knew they weren't in the right type of consulting (i.e. needed to move teams).

I've also known people who maybe weren't intrinsically motivated by the work, but recognised how it contributed to the things they were motivated by (e.g. saving for a home, learning and developing, being challenged, etc.). This provides a kind of indirect motivation.

You produce your best work (and receive the most reward) when you're interested.

๐Ÿ’ญ Something to ponder

Are you intensely interested in your work?
