Invest in the future you, mate!

There is no better investment than your own skills and personal development. And why go it alone?

BookMates is a subscription service which delivers a non-fiction book to your doorstep each month, and connects you to a wider community of people who are reading alongside you.

This monthly box is perfect for anyone who wants to grow to become the best version of themselves. Whether you are a seasoned reader, or looking to build a new habit, BookMates has got you covered.

Becoming a BookMate will:

  • πŸ“š take the pain out of picking your next book - if you're anything like me, the analysis paralysis is real when trying to figure out what to read. Let BookMates take care of it, and you focus on the reading part.
  • πŸ’ͺ support you in building and maintaining a reading habit - becoming a BookMate means that you get access to my How to Build a Reading Habit course, which takes the principles from James Clear's book Atomic Habits and applies them to the practice of reading (full circle, right?). One of those principles is to join a community where your desired behaviour is the norm... wink wink, nudge nudge.
  • 🎯 give you a structured routine to stick to - the fact that a new book is going to arrive on your doorstep each month gives you an added reason to read each day. Set yourself the goal to keep up with the pace, and in 12 months you will have charged through 12 books. Each one has the potential to improve your life, how about 12?
  • πŸ’¬ gain you access to our online community - we're called BookMates for a reason: reading is better when you do it with mates. Bonus - we give away freebies and discounts for those who make great contributions in the community (e.g. sharing their key takeaways, writing book reviews, etc.).
  • 🧠 help you to remember more of what you read - studies have shown that interacting with the content you read helps you to retain more of it in your memory. By joining the BookMates online community and joining the discussion with fellow BookMates, you'll be embedding the lessons from each book deeper into your brain.
  • πŸš€ be an investment in your greatest asset... your own skills and knowledge - reading enables you to stand on the shoulders of giants. You get to learn from the painful experiences of others, draw from decades of expertise in a matter of weeks, all while enjoying a coffee (if that's your style).

Do those sound good? I sure think so (disclaimer: might be biased).

Why I want to start BookMates

If you don't know me, my name is Brock and I live in Melbourne.

To keep it brief - books have been one of the greatest influences in my life and career so far.

In life, books have taught me how to manage the highs and lows, build better relationships with friends and family, and become a healthier and happier version of myself. Overall, they've improved my quality of life.

In my career, books have taught me how to be more productive, how to set goals, and the principles of career progression. These were key building blocks in me forging a career in my first 5 years which I am personally proud of.

Reading has given me so much in my life, and I'd like to contribute something to the world which helps more people experience that.

In the words of Steve Jobs:

There’s lots of ways to be, as a person. And some people express their deep appreciation in different ways. But one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there.

I want BookMates to be a subscription you can feel good about.
